Gastronomy

When we arrived in Sibiu, we would like to eat local food to test Romanian food. We’ve found a restaurant which called Crama Sibiul Vechi and it’s localized next to the big square “Piata mare”. We could savor local food like “mancarea becili” it’s a meal with some meats like sausage, bacon and lamb, all of this is accompanied with potato pancake and a very good sauce. We can test “traista ciobanuli” too.

Little surprise

I would like to drink a local beer, but the menu is written in Romanian so I didn’t understand very well it. The waiter asked me what I want and I said “I would like a rachiu please”, the men was surprised and when he come back I understand why he was surprised. Rachiu is a Romanian brandy but we must to drink it during the meal and not at the end. For me it was very strange, I prefer Calvados (Normandy’s brandy).

“Fast food”

In Sibiu, there is a lot of fast food which called Super Mamma you can eat shoarma or other meals. It’s very cheap, the shoarma (picture on the right) cost 13 lei (2.74€), and the Maxi kebap pui cost 17 lei (3.58€). We can eat other meals for 10 lei or less and all this food is good… GOOD DISCOVERY !
